Overview

Transformation is integral to nature’s ways and dreams are a powerful window on natural transformation processes. Our engagement with dreams necessarily takes us into deep terrains and invites a certain kind of consciousness—a quietening and dimming of our habitual knowing and ways of seeing to one of a ‘soft-gaze’ and the ability to ‘sit with’ and to be both witness and witnessed.

An archetype was synonmous with ‘idea’ in the Platonic age. When Jung wrote about archetypes, he was not speaking about pre-exisiting structures, but of inherited possibilites. ‘ There are as many archetypes as there are typical situations in life.’ We can work with the idea of an archetype as a dynamic potential pattern of imagination, thought or behaviour.

In this workshop we will be engaged in conversation about deepening an understanding of archetypal patterning, and consider how change and transformation is a key archetypal pattern. We will look at three archetypes: warrior, wise woman and healer. We will reflect on how these archetypal patterns have been lived in myths, stories and dreams and consider their personal relevance and impact on social/cultural life.

The workshop program will offer a mix of theoretical presentation, art/clay work, dreamgroup and journal work. Art materials will be supplied. Please bring your dreamjournal to the workshop.

Our September workshop will also include an opportunity to participate in our AGM scheduled for 2p.m.
